Do you remove your battery cable first before you remove MAF sensor to clean?
Second question is: What is proper way to reset ECU? What is the reason behind reseting the ECU? Remove the negative cable from battery for 15 minutes, and drive your car hard? How long does it take the car to relearn the driving habit? 1 day, a week, or a month?
Thank you..![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

The MAF is a live component to the engine ECM. This requires a battery ground disconnect, powering off the ECM, prior to disconnecting and reconnecting the MAF plug.
Otherwise, the electronic control module (ECM) may become damaged.
The plug lock pivits to unlock as it is pressed close to the wires entering the plug base..

Unplugging the MAF is fine as long as the key is out of the ignition. I've actually tried to start the car once without the MAF plugged in lol(on accident of course). Nothing got damaged, but the car refused to start till I plugged it back in. As for resetting the ECU, just leave the battery unplugged for 15-20minutes. Technically 1-2 minutes should be sufficient, but most people keep it pulled off for a bit longer.
