So I went out and got the sirius radio but I dont want to drive around with the thing in my ciggarette lighter, I want to hard wire it. Where is a good place to do it? I tapped into the cigg lighter from the back and it didn't work for some reason when I turned on the head lights

That means that you are on the wrong wire. There is a switched +12v wire behind the radio you can use, or you can go to the ignition harness and use the ignition wire, which will be 12v all the time when the key is on.
