Hey guys, I'm planning to install a HKS cold air intake on my 2001 gs300. My buddy who's sponsored by HKS is installing them for me for $350. I'm just wondering if the HKS system would give my cars any problems with compatibility issues and if a cold air intake system is even a good idea because when it rains heavy in NYC there are often some pretty deep puddles laying around the tight streets.

I was deciding on the SRT intake or a cold air setup and because the HKS dude is a buddy of mine I'm looking to save about $300 getting an intake system + installation. Btw, he is planning to configure the ECU so that the CEL would not come on because I know that happens with alot of GS's with aftermarket intake systems.

i thought they only make a drop in filter for the 2nd gen gs, they did have a super mega flow before but not anymore....is this guy using the intake for a different car and making it fit the gs??? or maybe its for the aristo...hmm post some pics after you get it done please!!

yeah I researched it last night and found nothing on the net about HKS making an intake system for 2nd gen GS but I've seen this dude's 03 IS300 and it has an HKS cold air system installed. Weird, but HKS does make a cold air intake system for the 06gs300 tho, probly totally different layout than the 2nd gen, but i will post more when I get the facts straight.

i didnt even know they had a CAI for the 2nd gen gs3. please keep us posted on your findings.. i may be intersted as well.. i know that HKS makes some quality intakes.. i had one on my 240 a while back.. great product..

Hmm.. He shouldnt even be charging you for installation because its so easy to work on GS300s. If he is a real friend, he wont mess around with you.. But hey.. Lets see photos when you guys are all done.. Seems like a custom set up to me, with an HKS filter..
