Default Can't break crank pulley bolt!!!!!!

Well my lil bro GS4 is getting its timing belt done but we can't seem to break the crank pulley bolt. Even trying using the biggest impact we have, heating up the bolt like 10 times and let it cool, actually broke the snap-on breaker bar, and very fustrated. I hate to break the bolt and change the whole crankshaft. So any suggestions??? It seems like the previous mechanic use a whole lot of loc-tite and put the bolt back on. or strip it in the process. HELP!!!

You have to use a stronger impact gun or put a breaker bar on the bolt and turn the ignition half way it will snap right off thats what i did hope its helpful

you need a big breaker bar, crank the motor, it will come off

I just changed my timing belt over the weekend. The tool that you need is a chain pipe wrench. I promise you that it will work if you have this tool. It is essential for any timing belt change. It has a chain to wrap around the pulley to hold it stationary. Then the other person can just loosen the bolt. Both people will have to move steady and slow. It takes a lot of force (rust; seized). Good luck.

Mine looks similar to this, but it is about 2.5 feet long. Very good leverage.

Also, put a rag or the old accessory belt around the pulley so the chain cannot scratch the pulley.

Make sure the gears where the timing belt sits and the entire area is completely dry and clean! I think that is very important in preventing premature deteriation of the new belts. Clean everything. Dry everything off.
