Default DIY 7 brakelight taillight (cost:$0, time: 15min)

Sorry if this is a repost. I searched but haven't seen anything on CL so I thought I'd post this.

DISCLAIMER
do at your own risk.

Time you need:
took me like 15mins.

Things you need:

14 gauge wire
4 splicers (if youre lazy like me who doesnt want to splice/solder).

Cost:
pretty much zero

What you get:
the good
-the top two taillights lighting up when you brake, woohoo.

the bad
-I have heard of one case where the taillight cracked b/c of excessive heat, but IF that happens, I'm buying 01+ taillights. This is probably why Toyota didn't make that top part light up. But it is wired so you can, and even has double filament bulbs...so I why not?

^Cracked 98-00 taillight with this mod
-It also draws more electricity...quite a lot actually.

How:
1. take off taillight.
If you don't know how, try researching. Clublexus logs and google are a great resource.

2. tap into wires...

<upper light>..............................<lower light>
black (brake)-----tap----------white/green (brake)
red (small)---------------------orange/green (small)
white/black (ground)------------white/black (ground)

3. and you have a working brake light. I'll try to take better night pics tonight.

Driver's side is stock, passenger side is tapped with brake light on the top right part of the outter taillight.

Good luck, and again, I am just showing you how to. Do this mod at your own risk.

Props to ClubAristo

Do you think it get's Hot because you are using a wire splicer instead soldering it

I thought about that but the guy on ClubAristo specifically said its due to the extra filament turning on when breaking.
