Default Moisture Problem in Lights

I recently got a 1999 GS400 and it seems to have a moisture/condensation in the headlights that will not go away.

I'd appreciate any feed back from others who have had this problem and what I can do to fix it.

Thanks!

SOrry to hear that

But I have good news for ya...if your car is still under warranty Lexus will replace them for free. As long as there is no damage to the casing ie...cracks or holes. If you are out of warranty...are you sitting down...total replacement cost approx. $2,300-$2,400 if you use Lexus parts and have them do the install.

I had mine replaced about a month ago under warranty. The seals went bad and the moisture entered there.

If you are out of warranty find out how much the extended warranty is(make sure it covers your lights) purchase the warranty and have your lights replaced. Then the rest of your car will be covered too.

Hope this helps

What the heck is he talking about??? When I went to my Dealer to get an appointment to get mine replace my sales guy happened to be there and said some stupid thing like...oh it is common in the GS to have condensation and they won't replace it. Ha, thank goodness my service consultant was there and said yes it will be covered under warranty....lame sales people.

Get it replaced!!! Make sure they order the part otherwise you will have to wait longer....although not a bad thing if you get an loaner.

foxglen and gsnav,

I had the same problem on my 2000 GS4. However by the time I noticed it, my warranty had just ended. I figured I would give it a shot anyways and take it to the dealer. I was pleading my case w/ the service consultant who said that he would try and see what he would do. Turns out he took my case to the service manager who agreed to replace both of my headlights (not just outer casings) for free. He said that they found metal shavings due to the self-leveling system, which they believed was the cause of the moisture getting in. So I must say that I was pretty lucky.

Thumbs up Headling problem solved

Thanks very much to all who gave me advise on this. I took the car to Lexus dealer today and they will be replacing the headlights under the warranty...no questions asked.

Another good example of the strength of the Lexus warranty coverage.
