Default Painting chrome rims

Okay Guys I got my wheels but I want to paint parts of them and they are chrome. Does anyone know about painting chrome rims? I know you have to sand them but how much? Down to under chrome or just to rough up? Is there special primer? Special paint too or is the primer only special? Will they chip? Do you clear coat them? I want to paint only certain areas white but I want to do it right, with the right materials and procedure so it will lokk right and not chip.

powdercoating is the way to go for sure in this application...
paint may work fro a little while but degrade massively over time.
powdercoat will last.. a while!

my buddy powdercoated his wheels... but they did the whole wheel.
if ya wana do parts... ya gta get high temperature tape and mask off whatever you dont want coated.
now as far as sanding.
im not sure what you would do with the chrome.
honestly...
i know yr not gna try doin athis at home... and if you are... stop right there.lol
powdercoating is a pain in the *** unless you really have the proper location, big enough place to heat the parts / etc etc etc.

i would check around to see if u can find a place that does it man.
youll get the nice result without all the BS if ya know what i mean..

I could be wrong ut i think most places would just scuff the chrome so it would be a flatter finish than spray a bonding agent than throw the color on top. Its something like that I think. I got a great place here in S.FL. hit me up for the info if your interested...
