I just had mine checked and YUPP they gotta go especially the passenger side. My mechanic even had me move the wheels up and down and man I don't think ill be driving that car until the joints get changed out. i only have 80K miles...

The new ball joints that you will buy ARE supposed to be the stronger ones according to my buddy(Lexus Mechanic).

Screw getting them done by a mechanic - DO THEM YOURSELF! Its very easy and requires very basic tools. Instead of just getting your lower ball joints replaced at the stealership, by the replacement ball joints, tie rods, and hell, steering rack bushings, install them yourself, and you would still come out with more cash. I haven'y personally done my steering rack bushings, but I have replaced the lower ball joints and tie rods, and I wrote up a DIY on it. Its in my previous post to this thread on the first page. Don't pay someone else for labor when you have the same basic tools that they do - HANDS!

I think if you read this thread (particularly post #8), you'd find your answer already

Peter at Sewell Lexus has the lower ball joints and tie rods. 93k miles? dude, its a no brainer. The pic in Coco bun's post (HFS!) says it all. Wanna guess what that will cost to fix? I don't. GSteg is the evangelist on this one and I'm a true believer. The difference was night and day with new ball joints and tie rods. Mine had 120k miles. Daizen steering rack bushings are also reccomended. Again, Sewell has what you need.

I agree. Why take the chance of having ball joint separation occur, possibly on the freeway, which would more than likely cause the car to flip and roll. Do a search on ball joints and you will see hundreds of threads on the issue. It is a fact, the 2nd Gen GS has a ball joint issue. GSteg will tell you, Coco's pic speaks volumes, and there are plenty of others out there that have horror stories - why ignore everyone elses experiences and chance learning the hard way?
Ball Joints = $120 shipped.
Tie Rod Separator = $10 bucks
DIY Labor costs = $0 - 1-2 hours
Peace of mind = PRICELESS
