EV ftw!!!
This DIY was for the last set of VS-xx's I had (17 inch for my Maxima). You can use that as a guide to fix your wheels.

To summarize, this is my understanding of what you did (quoting you).
1. Angle grinder, converted to a high-speed 50 grit sander. This step leaves major gouges in the metal, but it's super fast.
2. 3M 3x sandpaper to smooth the metal out. Start at 60 grit and work your way up 2000.
3. Use jeweler's rouge on buffing wheels (3-step) after the sanding.
4. Emery, tripoli, then red compound.
I am not sure I quite follow it, so if you can just elaborate on the steps above for the benefit of everyone else that is interested in doing this, that would be great! Please explain it as if we don't know anything about polishing.
I also want to polish the inner lips of my wheels. Also what tools we need to buy.

Thanks man! You broke the process down! One important pointer is: You don't have to start that low (grit). You can do the entire process by hand. Those Works (17") were in poor condition. If your wheels aren't that bad, you can start around 320-400 grit and work your way up. Make sure that you get all the stratches (curb rashes, etc.) out with the roughest grit. Then remove the scratches induced by the rougher grits with the following finer grits.

Here are pictures of some JDM 3-piece Racing Hart C5's (fully polished now) that were purchased locally for $75! All the wheels looked beat up like that. Also, 2 pictures of my old SSRs.
Sandpaper and Mother's polish can do wonders.
I did the SSR curb rash with the wheel on the car. I was lazy to take the wheel off, because it was cold that day.
