So after reading all the posts I decided to change out my cabin air filter with a twist. Items bought Web Absorber air filter and Web Filter Fresh scents. Total cost $14.00 at home depot. Decided on the fresh scents because I was tired of the wet sock smell when I turned it on after it sat for awhile. Now it smells great!

Did this already and let me tell you, the scent is going to last FOREVER!!! I put mine in almost 9 months ago and still smells great everyday. I'll tell you what though, next time I change it I'll probably only add a strip or two because of the concentration. The air-freshener is made for a whole house so the strong scent can be overwhelming.

Proper way to eliminate that smell is an evap foam kit. BG makes it and all you have to do is shoot the foam up into the a/c drain hose (which leads to the evap case) and it fills it up with foam and kills all that bacteria and mold growing in there and then it all drains back out the hose. Then there is this other aerosol can inclued with the kit called frigi fresh that you shoot into the outside air intake vents under the windshield while the a/c is on. Makes it smell like a new car again and gets al that smell out of the vents themselves. Works great!
