Default Child restraints and center caps

I recently bought a 98 Gs4 and I would like to be able to use the latch system that is available for the 2000 or 2001 up GSs. Has anybody ever done anything like this or know if it possible? I talked with Sewell and they didnt seem to think it is doable but I find that hard to believe. Does anyone know how the lower anchors attach to the car? Are they just part of the seat belt buckle assembly? I know that you can get the tether fro the rear deck as I had one in my 92 SC3.

Also does anyone know where I could get Lexus center caps for my Axis Milanos? They have very large centers (roughly 3") and I have yet to see any stock Lexus caps that would fit. Is there any place that custom makes these that anybody has used before?

I know on some of the newer Lexus cars its built into the seat frame itself. We tried to look one up for a customer here, and it was not available seperate from the seat track.

I rebuild my '01 GS from a salvage. They are separate from the seat belts. "L" shaped steel in a loop. If I remember right they bolted on with about a 10mm bolt threaded into the body. But I am not sure about reinforcement. The latch is convienent but your playing with a childs life, I wouldn't want to mess that up. Good luck, be safe!

Hi, did anyone figure out how to get the LATCH system into an older GS?

Well, LATCH wasn't available for 98 - 00, and LATCH is simply a better more secure system in many opinions, plus much easier car seat installation.

We need to call our respective dealers and get a quote.

This info has been covered on ClubLexus before. I may have posted this before too. Either way here you go:
