Greetings and a ?
Howdy,
After owning a GS300 Gen I for a few years and then an Impala SS, I am back in the Lexus crowd having recently obtained a 2000 GS300. Love it more than Gen I.
Have had to deal with a few little nagging issues. The one that has me really stumped and now getting aggravating, is the bad bulb indicator on the dash board. It was on when the car was purchased and I have since found a few rear located bulbs that were not working. After replacing, the license plate bulbs and the interior trunk bulb, all locatable lights are now functioning. The blasted indicator is still on.
Any thoughts ? Does it need to be reset after a bad bulb is replaced ?
Help!, its starting to drive me nuts. I do not want to remove the indicator bulb, but that's the next step.
Thanks in advance, Dave.

Welcome and....
Hey W&W,
Have you tired the brake bulbs itself? I might have missed it after reading your passage. I just saw where you said license plate and trunk light. Have someone step on the brakes so you can see for yourself if any bulbs are burnt out. Welcome and hope you get that annoying light fixed.

Congrats on your GS and welcome to Club Lexus
Not sure about the indicator light, I'm not too savvy on the 2nd gen GS. Now, if you were talking about the first gen, then that'd be a different story
Anyhow, give this thread some time and I'm sure other members will chime in with some input.

Nah resetting the ecu will do nothing for you if the bulb indicator is on. You probably STILL have a bad bulb back there for the brake light. Keep in mind, half the bulbs back there have dual filaments. You're gonna need someone to step on the brake pedal while you check or just wedge a stick between the seat and pedal. Don't do what I've seen some idiots do...it's hilarious but it happens. They step on the brake then run out behind the car to check if the brake lights are working and they keep running back in and repeating again and again for about 5-10 more times until they finally figure out what they're doing wrong
