Default Ok guys, Who's modded their stock tail lights?

And what technique did you use to do it?

I'm trying to be rid of the ugly yellow turnsignal in my tail light. (2000 GS400) I thought I read somewhere that the yellow piece will escentially fall out once the lense is removed, or you can do somthing to the extent of using a dremel as well.... Does anyone have links to any "How To's" on these? On my other car I was able to simply heat up the headlights in the oven @ around 200 degrees and pull em apart with my hands. I tried using this technique, but our tail lights seem to have a different type of glue holding the lens on, and i think it was starting to crack some so I stopped!

Can you guys post up how you did yours? (Heat gun, oven, dremel, etc...) and what temps and tools you used etc?

Thanx -David

i've looked at banana's and others time and time again... but i'm still worried about getting water in it and fogging it up over time. if a heat gun is used and such used and you take your time to make it 'right' is it really as easy as it looks?

Alexusoftime:: that picture is about what i'm thinking about doing, any advice or don't do 's to making the tails look like yours?

Thanks guys!
I know there's other threads on here about this, but how exactly different people did it is pretty vague. Like, "Alexusoftime" I see you used a heat gun. Did it deform the black part of the taillight? It seems that in order to heat it up you have to get the light really hot. almost on the verge of melting it..... is this true? How high to you have the gun set, and how long does it take you for one headlight?

I don't have a heat gun, so I tried throwing one in the oven for prob 20min @ 250 (like i have done with headlights on my other car) but the lense didn't seem to want to budge.........

I tried it on my last car with some spare HID parts. I dont know if Lexus tails are different, but the GTI tails i used melted after 30 seconds of being on....

Might want to just retrofit some sort of housing under the bumper for this.
