Funny.... I am actually experimenting on that myself. I actually did the lights on my bros, honda accord. They look awesome.... He is always being asked if they are JDM from Japan... But it really is a great idea though.....

Yeah, open it and paunt a flat black. Try to use a heat paint just to make sure it won't peel... It will not crack if you do not pry it open. Make sure you are heating the sealant...

Nice!
Now that is one sick idea and project... When you guys have the procedures on lock I wouldn't mind spending a pretty penny on something like that.. Please keep us updated with the outcome...

Well folks, I had delayed this mod because the cost of getting headlights was like $2000 a pair...that's because Lexus used to only sell the entire assembly (HID bulbs, ballast, etc.) all together. Now they sell just the headlight housing seperately...so this project may be revived but not until the brake deal is flowing smoothly...
McN-I suppose I could try a set of JZS147 GS lights but I need a sample unit to see how to take it apart...90% of the problem is being able to cleanly detach and reattach the clear lens to the housing...I wish they sold them seperately!

Hmmm....
Manaray,
Are you doing this for low-beam headlight assembly only? Could you also do it for the DRL/HighBeam Housing as well?
As if for now, Do you have spare housings or you need us to send out headlight assemblies to you?
Keep us posted with price (and color options) too.
Thanks

The housing is one unit...I did both the low and high/drl.
Right now, this project is on indefinite hold. I was planning on just modding new housings from Lexus...that way, I could get people the blue tint ones...I was only planning on black but I suppose other colors could be done...honestly though, I think it would cost more money that most people would want to spend...I think the housing alone are like $350 each (I think!)...that's automatically $700 right off the bat...then for me to disassemble and paint in standard black would cost some money...and a colormatched OEM color would cost at LEAST a hundred or two more since I'd have to get the PPG colormatched paint and have a professional painter do it (especially the metallic colors)...like I said, probably more money than it's worth...I'd get maybe like 1 or 2 people to do it...at that level, it's basically charity work.

charity work? hmm,....
Anybody in your list of charity work for now?
I don't mind to be the first customer.. and I don't mind for "untinted" headlights as well. Let me know if you could do this near the future...
