Default How long does the 98-up gs300 motor last?

I'm thinking of purchasing this high mileage 98 gs300 from this person for pretty cheap and the car has very close to 200k. the car runs good ,but wanted to know the longevity of the motor.

Like any motor it depends on the care that was put into it.
Regular maintenance, regular oil changes, etc.

But you can get Lots of miles out of a GS.
We have members on here that are at or over 200K on their motors.

Now unless you are getting a SWEET DEAL on a 200K mile GS I would probably not get one. But that is just me.

Well not a second Gen but first and this picture was taken last year. Original tranny original engine just maintenance. Tranny shifts so smooth you can barely feel it.

Check all his service records and make sure it hasn't been in a major accident.

most likely just a 90k full service, don't need to worry too much. if the car has been given TLC it shouldn't betray you.

Toyota engines are bullet proof. I have owned 4 toy/lex combined 750k mi driven and out side of regular mait.- one altenater. My 98 gs4 has 94k mi and you cant hear the engine idle, very smooth.

In the past couple of weeks I have had several high mileage GS's come in, all running great. The mileages were all in the 170k range. One of the cars, the oil only gets change when the low oil light comes on, but it also rans great.

MO, if your looking at 200k and don't have the records I would steer clear unless it is a deal you can't pass up. Hope that helps.

If you buy it, and for some reason you don't like it. You are going to able to resell it with this kind of high miles.
