When you DIY your grill, you remove al the paint but are you on the bare metal or is there a chrome grill underneth??

Ok, this is crazy!!! I bought 2 chrome grills on Fleabay. Chrome underneath... Why? Do other models have same chroming ability? I have a GX470 and RX300.

Thank you 2savvy for the information, I first did the front of the grill and it looked good, but it bothered me when i looked really close, it did not look that clean, so I got back on it and spent some more time getting the black paint off of the sides of the slats aswell, (by the way I used Jasco paint remover) it looks much cleaner and nicer to me now, I will post some pics when I get a chance, I like the look and thank you for the information..

looks like an easy mod. How would it look with the chrome and a black "L"? I like the black emblems on my GS.
