John making some mounts out of 2x4’s

I think this looks like Wall-E

Just about ready for fleecing

Added and wired up my power supply

Arms for the trunk lid bars to go through and add structural support

Taping off the areas where we do not want the resin and glass to stick to

Taping off the bumper

Starting to stretch the fleece. Yes it is ladybug patterned with pink!!!! Lol it was what was on sale and it is better for us being bright colored so that we can see where the resin has soaked in and where it has not

Rough stretch

Time to staple

Openings are stapled off

Let’s resin!

John had a disagreement with the razor blade while cutting the fleece lol. The fleece won!

Adding some glass to add structural support

Things are starting to take shape

Cutting more excess fleece off

More bondo

Lots of taking off and putting back in during this process

Test, fit, sand, test, fit, sand!

Adding more layers to add more shapes

John sanding away

Almost there

Starting to see the final shape

Prepping for some fiberglassing work

Took the stock carpeted panel that is under the trunk deck where the light goes and glassed it into the front face window

Starting to adhere

Had some resin left over so we reinforced the side panels

Cured enough to start building up

Bondo matching the inner lip up top

Smoothing out

Testing

More building up

Got some spare polyfill so I used it all to fill in the rest of my trunk lid

Got this screen courtesy of Audiovox for our trunk lid build

For what we are doing this required some dismantling

Scott trying to pull a fast one

John making a trim ring for the monitor

It’s going to look something like this

Time to tape it all up

Let’s sling some glass

Trunk lid mold almost done

Popped the mold off and time to trim

Had to extend some wires to make the monitor work the way we wanted

John soldering away
