Default Used Wood Steering Wheel

There's a local shop that has a Used GS Wood Steering Wheel for $350 (I just have leather currently, no wood). I haven't seen it yet, but he said it's in great condition, almost brand new...came off a wrecked 2003 GS430 (I have a 2001).

But he said there's no airbag or stereo controls on it. He said I could just use the ones I have...swapping out the airbag and putting it onto the wood wheel, and taking off the stereo controls off my existing wheel and putting it on the wood wheel.

Does this sound right? I simply don't know, I have no experience with steering wheel removal or steering wheel replacement.

I wouldn't do it myself, I'd probably have someone else do the swap...but I just wanted to make sure that the airbag and stereo controls are "swappable".

Thanks.

If you have a 01+ GS I think it'll work.

Default You should be fine....

Kevin,

You should be fine bro. Make sure before buying that their is a cutout for the radio controls. And when you switch it out just replace it as you take it off the original. If you need any help, hit me up 240-832-3929 and I'll be glad to help you out.

Default Steering wheel

Yeah, it works.. It's a simnple plug and play. The only thing changing is the wood as opposed to all leather. As for the cut out, all wood steering wheels have it. It's just a cover if the steering controls are not included with the wheel, so just remove the cover and install and plug your controls..

If the wood/leather are in good condition the price is good. A new one from the dealer is hundreds more and the conversion (by American Stitches) when it was available was about $450. Make sure the wood matches the color of your existing interior wood trim, the airbag should be plugnplay. If the leather doesn't match that can be easily changed. Just curious tho, I thought all 430s came with wood/leather steering wheels. Or, was it an option for the 1st year of the design update and became standard on 430s in 2002 and beyond?
