I was telling this guy that my GS430 would get whooped on by a 540i 6-SPEED, and he told me that's becuase the GS430 is slower than the GS400. (he gave some dumb reasons like weight and e-shift being faster) He claims that the GS400 is FASTER than a 540i 6-SPEED. What do you guys think???
(obviously I know this guy is full of cr@p as I have owned both a '98 GS400, and the current 430.)

I don't have any hard data available currently, but I don't think either the 400 or 430 would get whooped per se.

I've always thought it was a pretty even match up; obviously driver variables come into play.

The larger issue though, I think the 400 and 430 are pretty close to one another in the performance specs; I think the 430 has more torque to get it going faster; a couple of .x tics quicker to 60...

I wish we could have several GSs & 540s at a track sometime to really see whats up

I completely agree....but this guy was flat out saying that a GS400 would walk a GS430 HARD.

NFW. I've had a 400 and now have a 430. They are about the same speed. The 430 does have 15 lb-ft. more torque but is a tad heavier so it's a wash.

and a 430 will not get whooped by a 540i 6 speed. You either win by alittle or you lose by alittle. You will not totally kill it and you will not get totally whooped.

If your friend were in Los Angeles, I'd like to see whose car is faster, his or mine.

hehe I've done it once, and i wouldn't mind doing it again. Call your friend's 540-6speed out, I will whoop him for good.
