It's not that hard and and you can actually build your own RGB converter if you have the time and knowledge, from Radio Shack parts. Or else just buy one already built.
It does take some confidence to cut those nav wires though.

Yes, you'll need a separate DVD player. A portable one or a 1/2 din unit you can stash in the glove compartment works just fine. You can hardwire the audio or use a cassette adaptor and hide the wires since no one uses cassette's anymore anyway.
It's a tight fight behind the nav but it will work. Like I said the hard part is cutting through the nav wires (be careful and know your plan beforehand, the wires are thin and short so there's little room for error and Lexus does not sell replacement parts separately - it will be a $700 + mistake)
