Default Replacing the stock sub with an aftermarket

I have the pioneer system and I'm not impressed. I also have a 12" Kicker free air laying around. Is the stock sub 10" right? Is it hard to make the 12 fit? The others who have changed over to an aftermarket sub did you keep the stock amp to power the speakers? Could someone point me in the right direction. THanks!

This is for a ten inch free air kicker. If you search or visit the a/v forum, you will find plenty of apt cl'er who know how to make a 12'' free air sound awesome.
