Anybody have a heat shield begin to rattle? (when idling) The fiberglass lining in mine is near gone, plus one of the metal clamps is holding that tightly.

The DEALER says it can't be rewelded. Options dealer gave: 1) remove or 2) replace ($1200+).

2 mechanics have said there's no significant impact in simply removing (climate here - winter in the 20s and 30s, summer: 90s to 100).

Which makes me wonder WHY is what there to begin with. And that there's some impact.

A lot of people here remove them when they upgrade their headers and there have been no complaints that I can recall. I had a GS3 and I upgraded my headers and I experienced no impact. I'm going to install some headers on my GS430 and I'm expecting the same out come...nothing.

If the dealer confirmed that it is rattling, I would have them remove it, and save the extra loot for a mod .
