Lowering a 99 GS4
With all of the options from coil-overs to springs, I need the final word on lowering a 99 GS4.
I have decided that the cost for coil-overs are just not within my budget and am really leaning towards aftermarket springs.
I am buying a GS400 in a couple of weeks (finally!!) and plan to install 19's immediatley after the purchase. I realize that Eibach Pro springs drop the vehicle about an inch, however I extremely dislike wheel well space and need to be a bit closer to the ground.
I would like to drop the car about 1.5 - 2.0", so what kind of spring can get me there without cutting?
Thanks for your help in advance,
- Synergy

HR would be closer to your objective, but still will not reach the 1.5-2" drop..if you will be replacing the shocks at the same time(which is highly advised...), may i suggest the newly introduced bilstiens coil-overs for $900..the reason being that HR+shocks(ie bilsteins sport) will run you ~$700-750 already.
so if you want that "no-gap" look/feel, def consider the bilsteins pss coils...

Well depends onw hat you are and what your style is. I am all show, "go" does nothing for me. So, I'm debating on whether or not to throw on a 4 way adjustable air suspension for around 1500 or to get springs/shocks. I don't like adjustables cuz they too expensive, and I don't give a damn about handling. So I would get the air suspension and get rid of my wheel well gap. =]

Does anyone have the L-tuned spring/shock combo on their car?
I'm looking to put this on my car for about a 1 inch drop. Overall what does the ride feel like and what is the approximate price for all four wheels?
Thanx,
Manuel

Figure about $800-$1000 for springs/shocks, install and alignment.

Tons of people on here have the L-Tuned setup. The ride is still comfortable, but without the unnerving float on the stock setup.

manuel,
the "dilly/catch" is that the l--tuned (~$500+shipping) was originally destined for the european market as part of sport pkged GS. since toyota of japan already have tons of them in stock, they figure why not offer to the us market at an attractive price to capture/test the performance segment....for those who want improved look and handling, this is as you said, A BARGAIN....with 0 catch...

sure thing guys....glad to be of help. my gs is the first car that i ever modded, so i try to help out as much as i can.
synergy,
there are few japanese springs that might provide more than 1.5" drop, but they are not readily available here in the US. plus they will cost more than $300/set for springs along. with the bilsteins pss coils you get HR made springs and bilsteins shocks thar are height adjustable for $900, cannot go wrong here...

Sounds like a win-win with the Bilstein setup. Does anyone know of a good shop in the Bay Area for install of the kit? I live in the San Jose area.
Thanks for your help!
