Default Rpm/speedo Not Working After A Jump

To make a long story short. Yesterday night I was driving home when the car lost all power and shutoff on the 181st bridge in manhattan. After many hrs I finally got the car towed back home. Jump the car and after a few tries the car finally started back up, but now the RPM is pinned on 8 and the speedo is stuck on 0. Anybody know what is the problem and how can i try to resolve this?

lmk

Thanks in advance.....

btw this is a 99 gs4

Like he said, reset everything and see if it comes back. Then start checking the condition and voltage of your battery and alternator.

Update:

Put in a brand new battery, and everything is A-O-K. On the sidenote I always thought it was the alternator that's bad when the car shuts off on the road.

not so, a bad connection to your batt. will shut the car off also.. the beauty of these exquisite cars is that they have back up systems.. your instrument cluster for example has circuit breakers to protect it (like from bad jumper connections..lol)
