What do you think about GS400 seat comfort?
Hi all,
I have bought my 99GS400 for about 3 years now. Right from the get go, I noticed that the driver seat cushion was a little flat. Since all of the other seats in the car felt excellent, I attributed it to the fact that it was a used car. I went to a local upholstery shop and had it restuffed last year. Immediately, I noticed that the cushion was "hard" but the shop convinced me that it needed to be broken it. One year later, I still don't see any improvement in seat comfort. The cushion was so hard that it feels like I was seating on wood. After 2 hours of commuting everyday my back would hurt so much that I find my self thinking of getting a new car.
Does any body else have this experience about our car? If yes, what is your solution? It would be nice if you could recommend a shop in Orange County, CA.
Thanks.

I face the same problem. I feel like I"m sitting on a flat piece of cardboard. I recently took an hour drive and within 15 minutes, i was already feeling discomfort.
Plus, the seat doesn't really support your knee area like those BMW seats.
I hope there is a solution for this.

Looking for used seat may not solve the problem since the cushion is used. Buying new seat would be kind of expensive, I guess. I'm not sure if I want the Recaro look on my car (it is pretty much a sedan). Plus, I may loose the heated seat feature (nice to have). Has any one done swapping the front seats? How do you handle the seat belts?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There are many trim shops out there who can disassemble the leather seat, add additional cushioning and then put the same leather cover back on over the new cushion. I would be surprised if a good shop wanted to charge more than about $100 for this.
Many shops can also re-do the leather so that it looks new also. Usually the seat bottom takes all the wear with the rest of the seat looking pretty good.
I've got a 98 GS300 with about 55k miles and my seat is pretty comfortable. That was one of the things I really noticed when I first got the car - the comfortable seats.
