I recently moved from San Jose, CA back to Chicagoland area. Fortunately it has not snowed much here but I know it's coming. Since they use a lot of salt to melt the snow, I was wondering if I should get some sort of rust proof coating done on my car so the salt won't rust the car?

Do the GS's already come with some sort of protectivecoating already or should I go get rust proof coating done? Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to get the coating done?

Do not get any form of rustproofing applied. You'll think you are protected when you'll likely have formed pockets for salty snow to collect in. I'm afraid that you'll end up doing more harm than good.

I'd hose off the underside when possible but that's all.

All modern cars even my older mercedes from 30 years ago have a rust coating sprayed on the underside of the chassis to prevent water from corroding the metal underneath. So your GS is definately going to have very good coating that is more than sufficient. Just like Mooretorque said just keep the car cleaned and washed ASAP, and hose off the under side and the wheel wells , every few days if you are constantly driving in the snow.
