With the stock tires, the GS sucks in the snow. The first winter of owning a GS (after owning FWD cars before that), and Northern NJ gets hit with a decent amount of snow. Had to take everything very SLOOOOOOW. The traction light was ALWAYS on.

Now, got the Dunlop SP 5000 Asym on and it handles MUCH better. On a recent storm that dumped a few inches on us, I was able to get it through, although it was starting to slip and slide, especially on the takeoff, but manageable. The stock Invicta's would have never made it. Performance in slush or small amounts of wet snow were amazing.

Want good performance in snow? First, get yourself snow tires. Best you can do. Next keep it in Snow mode, that's why it's called Snow. Gives you second gear starts so you don't skid out just trying to accelerate. Then, most importantly, take it SLOW! I can't emphasize this point more. Even in a front driver. People in NJ (and other places) seem to think that since their car is front drive or has traction control that you are invincible. Unless you get yourself a Rover, go slow. And, if it's not an all-season tire, dont' even try it.

I wonder what the RX handles like in the snow. Seems to be a Lexus trait, but cheapo tires on that, too.

Does anyone out there have any experience with the Dunlop Graspic HS-2 Winter tire?
