Default Re-Birth Of a Legend................

I clearly remember the GT40 growing up and how my dad had a huge poster of one in our garage! And after reading up on the history of it and watching archived videos of past races when it surprised and dominated the race circuit in the late 60's early 70's! It appears that ford has a "Supercar" contender on the horizon! (I owned to Mustang's previously including a 400+ hp supercharged Cobra - 32 valve modular). As qouted by James Ford at the 2002 Detroit Motor Show:
“Above all else, this GT40 is a celebration of Ford,” Mays added. He described the GT40 concept as “a true supercar with appeal equal to that of the greatest sports cars in the world, but with the addition of a heritage that no one can match.”
Both the GT40 concept and the original share the GT40 mystique, but they don’t share a single dimension. The GT40 features a long front overhang—reminiscent of 1960s race cars—and is nearly a foot and a half longer and four inches taller than the original.
The GT40 concept is powered by a supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter 32-valve V8, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine produces 500 horsepower and more than 500 lb-ft of torque.
To celebrate the Ford racing heritage, Ford brought out five racing legends: Phil Hill, Lloyd Ruby, Bob Bondurant, Carroll Shelby and Jackie Stewart, along with three examples of the original GT40.

No AJ Foyt???? Christ, he's the one who shoved it up the Euro's a55e5 after they ridiculed our talent and cars.
A new GT-40? Remarkable.

Richie, I doubt it. You'd get pulled over immediately by a cop if you rolled in the original! Loud loud loud. But in a beautiful way.

sicklex, you have to hear it, feel it, and see it to believe it. And I have never had the good fortune to ride in it. I know what you mean about all the retro stuff but man, this GT40 is the creme de la creme.

Plenty of future cars. The new Nissan Z is cool. That new Cadillac concept is awesome. And Audi did a great job with the new Lamborghini.
