Why don't my rear seat lights go on when I open the door?
I just picked up a 98 GS 300 when I have to get stuff out of the back seat at night it is very difficult because the lights dont go on. when i press in the button they turn on so I know the bulb are good. are all GS this way? I have the door light to the on position on the roof panel where the sunroof is. any way to turn it on?

This might need to be programmed into the car. Mine turn on with out me pushing in the overhead button at the rear doors. Check the owners manuel and see if it instructs you on how to program the feature or if the service department needs to do this for you.

The sensor on the door actuator might be sticking. Does it happen to both doors?
Try this, unlock all doors with your remote, then open one of the rear doors. Wait a few mins. If the car relocks and rearms the alarm, its probably that sensor.
I have the same thing happened to me, but I haven't pulled the trigger on buying a new rear actuator yet.
