Default valentine 1 install on GS

I just gone through v1's website, and am very tempted to get a unit. I am wondering about installation, can one of V1 people post a pic up and maybe a short description on how this is done, so I can see what it looks like. I've never used a radar detector before, so I am imagine having this black box metal thing suckion cupped to my windshield!!

Also, I am NOT mechnical at all, so I am thinking of taking it somewhere to get it install for direct wiring, but where, and what's the best way of doing it?

btw, do I really need the concealed display unit??

thanks for any input,

here is a reference thread where it all started..,

Lex430:

Here's a couple of links that will answer most of your questions...

Install w/ direct wiring.

It's pretty easy to do BUT I took it to a stereo install shop (they were doing other work for me at the time) - $20 to put it in.

Stealth Mount
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=16592

My girlfriend has the stealth mount in her NSX, I don't in my GS. The box is still there and in the same place, it just doesn't have the LEDs mounted where anyone can see them.

IMO, you can position the V1 almost behind the mirror so that it's not obtrusive. Just low enough to get rear coverage and see the directional display.

Default Vanilla installation

Here's a vanilla install (wires and all) - it's not really that bad - of course, the hidden wiring is better. At any rate, get the V1 and use it even before your custom install!
