I can't believe it has been ten years either!! Its always hard to remember what stock car I saw first, but I can always remember the modded ones. It was the fall of 97, homecoming and this dude came through campus with a black 400 with 20" ANTERA 123's in chrome. Back in '97 20" Antera's were like rolling religion, you had to be Jesus' niece to afford a set!! LOL

Then a relative of mine got a brand new black / black 400 the spring of 98.

When I joined CL, I had a 96 GS, but after time (and seeing all the modded ones here like bluelex). I decided to get a 2GS. I got a Gold GS400 back in 2003. It was the first car I'd ever modded totally to my aesthetic preference (wheels, stance, aero, etc). It also gave me the confidence and motivation to start a business

I can still remember just riding along listening to the L-SPORTLINE exhaust purring, and thinking GOD I love this car. Or popping in and out of holes in traffic with the E-Shift and just smiling

10years is really really hard to believe with this design, it does not look dated in any way.

Ask and you shall receive. I've got a better one...

Audi A6 vs BMW 540 vs Jaguar S-Type vs Lexus GS400 vs Lincoln LS vs Mercedes

Luckily I keep most of my magazines.

A little preview...

I scanned the whole article (~15 pages) but the PDF end up to be 10.4MB. Can anyone host it for the rest of us?

My first time was when my Dad told me of a fellow co-worker of his selling his Lexus. I was like WOOOOOAH. When he brought it home, I was driving around the corner, and he was pulling in. I fell in love. At that time, I was driving a 1994 champagne color V4 saturn that was falling apart. She was dirty, disfigured, many dents, and out of tune! My family and I stared, sat in, and test drove it for the night.

Picture: BEFORE major construction

The following week, my Dad took it to a body shop out in Brooklyn. I waited roughly a week and a half, maybe more! I couldn't sleep ahahah. Then, finally, my Dad, my younger brother and I drove out to Brooklyn to pick up the car. The car hadn't arrived yet, so my brother and I were about to leave the lot of the body shop, and I look in the rear view mirror, and I see this.... Beautiful, concrete, sparkling GS400 roll in! We backed up, dropped jaws, and left.

My Dad came home roughly 10pm after having major engine construction done to it. All fluids flushed and all! The next morning, My Dad took it out to have the interior shampooed, and conditioned!!! WOW did it smell fresh!! Had to wait another 2 days for it to DRY!!! >_<

Then, finally.... keys came into my possession, credit card in my wallet, and detailing on my mind.

AFTER!!!!!

Current:
After months of detailing, trying to get every swirl out of my paint, every rough surface out, I'm proud to call this my sweet heart. My blood, sweat, and tears have gone into this monster machine. There's more to come for this car.... trust me on that!

I was 20 and visiting my parents in Alabama from college. We were staying in an apartment and there was not much for me to do there except talk to my girlfriend at the time Courtney, workout, or get a bunch of automags and read them. They had a article on the the new GS400 in SCI and Automobile and I was really impressed with it, the optitron lighting, nav, and 300hp 5.7sec 0-60 had me hooked at the time. I remember seeing later some news clip where Will Smith was in Philly and got into one and then saw a few on the road and alway thought they looked nice. When I was on my way back from the gym a few years ago in Alabama I saw a black one next to me that looked a little lowered with aftermarket rims and the spoiler, with yellow fogs and HIDs on and I was like I am getting one for my next car.

Although I have seen a few exotics my 2 most memorable first time cars was seeing a silver NSX on the highway around 91 or 92 with my dad in Missouri, I thought it was a Ferrari or some super expensive rare European exotic but my dad said it was the new Acura sports car which just amazed me and I could not get that car out of my head. Then in 94 I saw a brand new white twin turbo Supra parked down the beach in Delaware and could not believe how good looking and different it was. I saw it from the rear first and it looked great with that big spoiler. My dad dismissed it and said it was overpriced but I was in love. From then on I researched the car and always looked in the paper for them and almost bought it but they are just going for too much these days.

I never really noticed Lexus until I went searching for another car. I was a Honda nutcase and was looking into Acura instead. Lexus is not that common in this area, especially the GS. The RX was mostly what I saw out here and I always considered that as the soccer mom Lexus.

After seeing all the Acura selection and noticing that Honda in general was starting to get bland on me, I thought why not check out Infinity and Lexus. Infinity in my price range was not my style and so I checked out Lexus.

After seeing that the car is a RWD and was big enough to tote my wife and little girl around, I checked even more. I fell in love on the first test drive and I couldn't stop. It was so comfortable, so powerful, so pimp to me. So after about 4 screw overs by an Armenian Bentley, Nissan, and Carmax dealerships, I finally found my silver, in near perfect condition GS300. This may sound silly but I acted like 60 seconds and talking to Elenor.

And the story goes from there. As far as uniqueness goes, this is the only car I have owned that I don't drive around noticing everybody else has the same car.
