please remove the 2 10mm bolts , one on the inner body of the car and one on the shock body , you need to remove the tension on the abs sensor wire, just pray that u did not strain the wire for that will cost u

Could you please ellaborate on the ABS wire...I think my mechanic might have done that cuz all my lights are on now. How much would it cost to repair? How would I know if it is the sensor or wire? Thanks in advance

It is definitely a separated ball joint if that hasn't already been established. Here is the step-by-step DIY on replacing those, along with the DIY on replacing the outer tie rods.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=291143

My suggestions, and I am sure I speak for all when I say this: DO NOT just change the compromised ball joint, unless you want the same thing to happen to the other side. And hopefully your ABS wire wasn't yanked. The DIY on the ball joints and tie rods will cost you roughly $220 plus the $10 arm puller.

Another ball joint victim. Seems like all the ball joints are failing at the same time.

Same happened to me. Noticed the car was steering kinda funny and making weird noises. A tow and a day without my car later had me on brand new ball joints. Sad thing was that I was dragging on getting them installed.

Trust me, you broke ya ball joint, just like me and another guy on here==Kevin.Tran. Mines cost 1600 total. Yeah..its turning out to be a common defect for us GS owners with or without rims.

WOOOW wayyy to much money....

i replaced my own tie roda and new ball joints from sewell.

cost me like nothign.... all you really need to buy is a ball joint breaker.
simple job if you have the tools and time.

my car had lik 100k when i did it... i saw that my tie rods were wearing. so i replaced all parts... and i have all daizen bushings... which i would recommed to every lexus owner on earth. (ps dont replace the literall ball joint busghing on the lower arm.. the daizen one lacks design.. the stock is much better imho)

I'm ordering ties and ***** from sewell, now when the mechanic replaces my both part on each side does he access the bushings from the work he is doing or is it extra money to get the bushing done? dont wanna pay extra cash for bushing unless he is in the area.

He wont be touching the bushings at all.

It's very labor intense to replace the bushings. Dont replace yours unless it's gotten really bad. Usually it's the caster arm bushing that needs to be replaced. Perhaps you can get the put in and leave every other bushings the same.

Isn't there a sticky on this balljoint issue. I remeber a few CL members had their balljoints bust on them while driving on the highway, and i cannot stress enough on changing the balljoints and tie rods at around 100k if you haven't already...especially if you're running aftermarket suspension (ie spring/shock combo or coilovers) and running 19" or 20" rims/tires.
