Sound System
What are you guys running for the component speakers? I am looking for a nice crisp clear sound. Also, does anybody know what sizes the stock speakers are?

i got 5 1/4 focal components on the fronts
and hertz 4" in the rear speakers.
ran the focal components on deck power for a little over a month, then recently had them amp'd... BIG difference in sound quality...

I take it that this is our speaker sizes. 5 1/4 in the fronts, and 4" in the rear. What kind of amp you guys running to your components? I will probably only get 1 12 inch woofer or two 10s.

hey
all the speakers in the GS are 4" but many of us upgrade to 51/4 or 6.5 using custom baffles.
the sub is 10"(pioneer system not sure about the mark levison)

Gonna go 6.5" MB Quart Q Series all around, remove stock sub, and create band-pass box in trunk with 2 MB Quart Premium 12's. I've also heard Dynaudio is amazing, if you've got the $$$$

Sound systems are expensive, but you do get what you pay for.
Hell, I can do like the old days and just get 2 15s in the trunk and use the stock interiors until they blow. . But I am not 16 anymore so I want to do it right.

I'm running 6.5 2-way component Focal Polyglass V-Slims in the front, and generic 2-way 5 1/4 MB Quart coaxials in the rear. You can fit 6.5 in the rear without a hitch, but mounting depth becomes a problem when mounting 6.5 plus speakers in the front doors. You need to carefully measure the depth of the speaker magnet to make sure that it doesn't bang/scrape against your glass when the window is fully rolled down. I went with the VSlims because of there inherent slim speaker design. Sounds good too.

all very good questions by everyone. to know what you want, you need to know what you listen to and ur budget.
on my previous car, i had alpine components up front, 2 way pioneers in the rear, with a 12in sub/box and amp combo. it served the car well.
this time around, being a bit older, and listening to a wider range of music, i opted for great mid range speakers. thus went with focal components up front and just threw some standard hertz speakers in the rear doors. i wanted trunk space (not saying the gs doesnt have any) but i wanted to maximize it so went with a simple JL10 in a custom rear deck mounted box.
my audio bass nut days are over, now im just wanting something that has the ability to pound a bit when i want it to..
