Take a look at this

Run-Rite’s targeted approach to complete fuel system and induction system cleaning will leave your engine’s fuel system in top condition! After applying Run-Rite’s complete 4 step system, your car will have more power and get more energy out of every drop of fuel! By enabling your engine to burn more of the fuel it consumes, you will also improve the mileage you enjoy for every gallon! Additionally, your car’s emissions will be reduced!

I have a guy in Elmont Long Island that does this if you are not sucessful in your search for a shop. . You can view local members feedback of their experience here. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ht=amsoil+meet

Good luck..

my 99 gs4 get better mileage than my 98 gs 4, and I attribute it to the intake and exhaust. It was a dramatic increase though. Regarding the 9.5 mpg, I think there is a math error somewhere. If the car were burning that much fuel you would notice other running symptoms.

Hey DJ have u eased of the gas a bit since starting this thread? Working at my last job, I always felt rushed and thats a reason why I drove with a heavy foot. I drive just about 40 miles round-trip to work now and I'm able to fill up my tank about every two weeks or so. I think that's good considering the amount of miles and gas I put in my car during my last job. Since having the car, I've put Chevron w/ TEchron and Lucas fuel treatment and popped a K&N air filter in there. Also I've dropped my speed as well but there are times where the foot becomes heavy again.

Yeah I know the feeling. Like I said I still have the tendancy to speed; just can't help it sometimes. Try driving slower for a week and compare. That's what I did and sure enough my speed was a factor. But I still do it sometimes.

Yeah man, IM gonna try my best, Im probably going to turn on snow mode as well...

As for the fuel injection cleaning..im having double thoughts..

Thinking abt waiting till I get a major service done and havee all the fluids and stuff and the clean done together...

I still need my differential change, and my coolant...so shud do it with that as well!

Bad o2 sensors would drop your mileage as well as a sticking caliper. How many miles on your GS? Is bad mileage your only problem?

thats the only problem :-\

I get a error code..now that I think abt it..

it says

System Too Lean..
but that is usually when I am IDLING for too long..

wait a minute...
I think it might just be a problem..but the code usually goes away...

hm..

wat u guys think??

here is the upate...
after fuel additives..

I am still only getting 10.98 mpg....calculated correctly this time...

I drove full tank down to 177.2miles. then wen i filled up.. took 16.203 gallons..

177.2/16.203 = 10.98

WHAT SHUD I DO???

this is what im thinking...its not a fuel injector issues..since its a huge decrease in mpg....

1. Change 02 sensors.
2. Change MAF sensor..

Any suggestions??

thanks for all the input btw!

This probably isn't it but you should try and verify that the odometer is working correctly. Are there any measured miles on the highways near you?

That sounds doubtful...but I wil check it out!

In addition to that...I was saying I shud change the MAF sensors and O2 sensors because I had a code a while ago...PO171 & 174 i think...

which was:

System too lean
bank 1 of 2

System too lean
bank 2 of 2

So I am thinking that my Maf sensor..and two front O2 sensors are probably gone...or getting there..since I have no check enggine light on.

In some forums there were suggestions made saying:

Possible Vaccum hoses being loose or leaking....or my PCV going bad//melting??

Has any1 changed their PCV, and at what mileage?

thanks again for the help guys!

I would do a general tune-up. Clean air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, PCV, heck maybe even change the oil. All of this stuff is easy to do yourself and under $100. Also be sure tire pressures are at least 35psi.

I would change the 02 sensors, and CLEAN the MAF, no need to replace it.

Then after that see what it is, if it's still bad go to the dealer and have them do the Fuel Injection service which is $119, they hook up some super duper cleaner directly to your injectors, and it cleans the injectors and entire top end of the engine removing carbon build up in manifolds as well. I just had it done and it made a pretty big difference.

Let us know how you make out.

Air filter, I already did, Oil change is still up to date, spark plugs at 55k??
I cleaned the MAF already too!

PCV...That I should do!

Change the fuel filter?

Hmm..all are definitely good suggestions though..

I'm going to wait for about 2 (380miles) more fillings...hoping that I will get another check engine light which will point me in the right direction..

If the light doesn't trip....I'm going to start with a K&N, and the PCV, then the fuel filter..and finally spark plugs!

If with no luck..I'll continue down the line to get the O2 sensors and MAF...

This should be fun.. :-(
