gs400 transmission soldenoid problem!
got a problem...my car was shaking for a couple days now and then cel just came on, so i took it to a shop. mechanic said solenoid inside my transmission got messed up. Anyone ever had that problem? The mechanic said i have to basically rebuild my tranny or just get a different one. is there any cheaper way to fix this? the cel codes are p0715 and p0763.

I'm with these guys. If its just the solinoid you should be able to just replace the solinoid. Unless it happened to burn up the clutches in the tranny.

Here's a cross-reference link to P0763 code

Had a similar problem with my GS400. The solenoid is easily replaced when the car is up on a hoist with the transmission pan removed. It's held by two screws and has a cable that is easily unplugged and moved to the new solenoid.
My transmission could not get into third gear with the old solenoid; it's fine with the new one. Easy repair if you have a friendly mechanic, no need for the dealer$$$. In my case, the diagnostic codes correctly identified the bad part and replacing it fixed the shifting problem. I've had other problems where the diagnostic codes were wrong, not this time.
I found a new Lexus solenoid at amayama.com. My only problem was clearly identifying the correct solenoid to replace. I found helpful documentation for this online.
