Default OEM HID Life Span?

I'm not sure as to which forum this would go into, so I'll start in the GS forum and if the mods see it fit to move it, so be it.

Like the title says, what's the life span of the OEM HID's our GS' come equipped from the factory. I have been noticing little by little that I'm not getting as much light output from my stock HID's. I'm curious to see if it's possible that it might have to do with the age of the bulbs. I know that HID's don't burn out quite like regular filament bulbs (where they just get dim over time), but after about 10 years worth of ignitions and extended usage, is it possible that they might be closing in on their service life?

I know that when HID's go bad, the bulbs start putting out a yellowish color and then the just stop working... Mine are not exhibiting any of these symptoms... just a lack of output in my eyes...

When HID bulbs are dying I think they turn like a purple red color. I have an old 4300k bulb that came with my projectors and it's that color after it gets up to temp. Notice a lot of the older Acura TL's usually have red lights, it's because the bulbs are dying.

The light emitted from my HID's was purple when it started going out. It was noticeably different in color and was dimmer/darker. I purchased an OEM replacement from Ebay for $47 shipped. Here's the link to the seller i bought them from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-P...9925QQtcZphoto

Typical HID bulbs last about 3000 hours.
