Is it Safe to turn off X-Band on Passport 8500 in South Florida?

I was hoping someone who lived in South Florida would respond. I never heard my X-Band going off on the highway. It has only gone off near banks, Supermarkets, door openers and fast food places. Does anyone have proof either way if they still use it in Dade or Broward Counties in Florida?

I was just speaking from experience...if you turn it off in familiar surroundings and then go to unfamiliar surroundings and forget to turn it back on...you can screw youself over.

BTW - I used to live in Daytona Beach about 2 years ago, and I can tell you for sure that the FHP uses x-band....
