Default Weird noises when reving

If I'm revving my engine at idle, and I go past 2rpms, and release the pedal, I can hear a not so very loud clinking sound. It basically sounds like either the timing belts are almost done, or there's something else. I really do not know what it may be.

Any ideas?

Well first off, if your car has over 90,000 and the timeing belt hasnt been changed its very important you do so on the GS400 because if it breaks it will cause big problems.

So have you been able to pin point a location of the noise?

Could be a blown cat. They wear down overtime and eventually the mesh insides breaks apart and then rattles around.

I'll definitely look into the past history maint. of the car. How much do you think the timing belts would go for?

The sound seems to be coming from the belts, but i'm not too sure.

Check your serpentine/drive belt tensioner pulley. Take off the belt and then start it up. If the noise goes away then check all the pulleys. In this instance it is likely to be the tensioner pulley.
Good Luck,

the tensioner pulley is the adjustable pulley on your drive belt used to remove slack when replacing it.
