265/35/18 VS. 10" width
Hi all,
my rear tires 275/35/18 dunlop SP9000 is showing signs of lump in the thread. I am using a 10" width rim. ironically, the 275s available in my area. I used to have 275/35/18 bridgestone G3 potenza in my rears but this size for this model has stop production therefore i plan to get the bridgestone G3 potenza 265/35/18 for my new rears. I love the g3 for its distinct curved sidewall that helps to prevent rubbing while the Sp9000 has not curved sidewall and tends to rub when on high speed.
So has anyone use a 265/35/18 on a 10" width rim? what would be the advantage and disadvantage of using a narrower width tire?
Would like to listen to wheel gurus on this before i make a purchase
thank you

I feel you gill. That is what i am afraid of, scratches to the rims and unfortunately 275s are no longer avail in my area. Siince 265 is a stretch on 10", will it make the rims look bigger?

i think it all depends on the look each wants to go for and how much you want to spend on tires (?). i'm on 10's in the rear and on 275's. my friends are pushing me to go 285's in the rear, but i might lower my car even more, so i justify the 275 width...heehehehehehe.
to each their own. but overall, i suggest stay w/in spec.

I have the same tire (Falken style) on the front and 245/40/18 on a 9" rim the stretch is not as much and the rim protector protrudes more than the rim.
Ever bit of rubber helps.
some really like the stretched but not my cup of tea.
