Dash light warning VCS ABS VCS off
GS4 with 170,000 miles. About a month ago all three lights VCS ABS VCS off come on shortly after starting the car. This combination of lights is not in the owner's manual. They stay on while driving. I turn off the car and restart and they do not come back on. Happens about every two weeks. Brake job done after the problem started but did not cure it. Brakes and vsc work fine. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

Looks like you two might be having the same problems.

That just recently happened to me on my 00' GS4 and in my case it was the alternator that was going bad to the inevitable of my car shutting down at a stop. After replacement of the alternator under the Lexus extended warranty, it's back to being normal.
Good luck.

it also happened when my P/S pump leaked fluid into my alternator.. which in turned took it out too.
those lights don't neccessarily mean it has to do with ABS/VSC etc.. it happens when the alternator isn't charging too. I would get your battery tested because it might die soon if you car is running off battery.

mine did the same thing a while ago, my connections to the battery was loose, i had to replace them 15 bucks at auto zone and 10 minutes later problem went away and has never came back

You can go to an Autozone (not sure if Kragen has this service available) and ask them to pull the Error code from your vehicle than call the dealer to translate the code. From there you can decide whether to get reemed by the dealer or take it to a local mechanic that will perform the job for a 6-pack of Corona

Off-topic ... is it true that mechanics/service managers at dealerships work strictly commission and that's the reason why if you go in for a simple oil change all of the sudden becomes an engine overhaul?

you probably didn't tighten your gas cap properly last time you filled up. A loose gas cap(gotta turn it until it clicks three times) will always cause these lights.
1) Turn off the car
2) tighten the cap
3) start the car
4) no lights!
