^^ Yes, what William said.

If they just mask all of the window trim (etc.) it will
never really look that great. Personally, I start with
removing all of that stuff... My car went to the body shop
on a flatbed with the headlights, taillights, exterior door handles
etc. already removed by me (granted, I am nuts).

If you do remove that stuff, plan on spending a few $ on
replacement clips (they often break). I spent $80 on window
lower trim clips alone, but it was worth it.

Neat project!

Thanks guys ...

I seen the car today before final prep ... and I seen the rear removed plate, cover , badged and everything is sanded down ...

I am wondering if I want the car debadged ... ; / its a 400 sooo

and I don't think the lights are getting removed since it was already black .. spoke to the owner of the shop about that

Here are some updated pictures of how she looks today

DO NOT LET THEM PAINT IT without removing the door handles man...that's terrible. The clear will sit in there and the next time you want chrome handles you'll be experiencing some chips...they should remove the lights, or at least you do it. Its only 2 nuts and 2 bolts per light and 2 nuts on the inner. The paint job will look better with the headlights removed as well as the mirrors...I don't understand why all these shops are half assing everything.

The clear wont stick to the edges in some cases and you'll have peeling issues later. This includes the door caps

Oh man... not having that window trim removed would drive me nuts...
and the door handlws and lights really should come off- the door handles
require removing the interior door panels, but it's not that big of a job.

Mine looked like this right after paint... we even removed the
windshield & rear window.

they didn't remove the headlights, tailiights, door handles, and other trims before painting?! they the owner actually told you it's ok? i would seriously doubt having this shop do my car.......

a good shop would tell you what's right to do even before you say it -- take off everything

yeah, the thing is painting "into" all the seams. there is no way you can do a good job with everytihng still on the car. the only way to do it right is to take them apart, paint, let them paint the "inside" as well, then when you put things back, eveything will cover perfectly.

Strongly agree with our members!

These exterior & trim items should have been removed long ago..

Head lights, fog lights & tail lights should never be on a car during the sanding process.
Especially, when that surrounding area is going to be painted...

I hope they take better care of these things once you raise the issue with them.

All the lights are extremely easy to remove. Just do it yourself if you have to.
