Gear Shift Lock
Hi,
my 1998 GS400 car battery died and I couldn't move the car out of park with the key in and my foot on the brake. I understand there is a gear lock to the upper left of the gear shift. Do I just pry it up with a flat head and stick the flat head in there, or do I use my key afterwards? It is pretty tight, I don't want to break it open without knowing the proper handling method.
Thanks

Never had the problem but I seem to remember reading that you just slide a small enough flat tip screwdriver or something similar into the slot and push down, then while still pushing down, move the shift lever. Key should be in the ignition in the LOCK or ACC position while doing this.
