My 03 gs300 with 40K miles wouldn't start this morning after several repeated attempts to crank. Finally, I held the pedal about halfway down, got it to start, and kept the revs around 2000 to keep it running. Noticed copious amounts of dark gray smoke (darker than the obvious standard cold weather water vapor)for at least 30 seconds. Smelled like something burning, not that sweet coolant smell. Any ideas? Its at the dealer right now awaiting diagnosis or more likely a "could not duplicate" response. Thanks.

I wonder if the smoke is OIL leaking past your pistons into the compustion chamber. Something had to be going wrong with the fuel computers for it not to start. I hope that it checks out as a minor problem and can be inexpensivily fixed. Good Luck
