00 GS3 Weakened Alternator?
hey guys, i was getting a electrical short [the VSC ABS VSC off], so i was testing out my alternator and i noticed that my alternator is weak. I'm Getting 13.5 Volts when my car is running without anything on (and car's the park) . And im getting 12.4 Volts with the AC on and nothing else, no radio. I also have sub's with a cap on (but was off during test). So i was wondering if i should change my alternator, or this the problem for my electrical short;my alternator.

This is from a 2002 GS430 service manual. Hope it helps:
9. INSPECT CHARGING CIRCUIT WITHOUT LOAD
HINT:
If a battery/generator tester is available, connect the tester to
the charging circuit as per manufacturer’s instructions.
(a) If a tester is not available, connect a voltmeter and ammeter
to the charging circuit as follows:
(1) Disconnect the wire from terminal B of the generator,
and connect it to the negative (-) tester probe
of the ammeter.
(2) Connect the positive (+) tester probe of the ammeter
to terminal B of the generator.
(3) Connect the positive (+) tester probe of the voltmeter
to terminal B of the generator.
(4) Ground the negative (-) tester probe of the voltmeter.
(b) Check the charging circuit as follows:
With the engine running from idling to 2,000 rpm, check
the reading on the ammeter and voltmeter.
Standard amperage: 10 A or less
Standard voltage: 13.2 - 14.8 V
If the value is not specified, check the alternator.
10. INSPECT CHARGING CIRCUIT WITH LOAD
(a) With the engine running at 2,000 rpm, turn on the high
beam headlights and place the heater blower switch at
”HI”.
(b) Check the reading on the ammeter.
Standard amperage: 30 A or more
If the ammeter reading is less than the standard amperage, repair
the generator.
HINT:
If the battery is fully charged, the indication will sometimes be
less than standard amperage.
