Default Car is kind of sluggish when trying to start. Need some help.

Hey Guys,

Whenever I start my car in the mornings, its pretty sluggish. Sometimes it won't turn on the first try... My car is in the garage most of the time so I don't think its the cold.

I dunno why all of a sudden, but I can imagine its only going to get worse winter rolls around. I've tried a couple things to help remedy the situation.

I changed my spark plugs. Used fuel a injection cleaner, but it hasn't helped. I don't think its the starter or battery.

Any ideas?

Did you check that the cables are tight and clean? How old is the battery? I would have thought that it would be something in the starting or fuel circuit.

the battery is about 1 year old.

Which cables are you referring to?

is the starter turning real slow or it cranks fine, but doesn't start right away?

It cranks fine, just won't start right away.

A friend on mine thinks that it might be the battery... but its only 1 years old..

Maybe i'm just being too picky, i'm just used to putting the key in the ignition and turning right away and presto! Now i have to hold it there longer, and the occasional time i need to dis-engage the key and try again.

Clogged fuel injectors? Maybe try some concentrated fuel injector cleaner. Try resetting the ECU..

I usually fill up with 89 octane gas (due to gas prices) do you think that this could have an effect?

89 octane will not affect your car from starting... i say do a tune up on the car.

It won't but non-premium fuel can slowly clog injectors.

The cables attached to the battery. Make sure that they do not turn when you try to move them.

I have the same exact problem. I was thinking it might be the cold because it really only happens in the morning when its really cold out. I was out of town for a week and when i first fired up my car it scared me because of how long it took to turn....mines a 400 though

Have you checked the water level in the battery?
