Just curious as to why you would want to do this?

Take a picture of all the plugs and everything. I have a feeling the climate control plugs are all the same. So instead of having 2 separate boxes(this is in a non-navi setup...climate+radio) and having 2 plugs into each...you have 1 box(navi unit) with 4 plugs going into it. Just a guess, I might be wrong. Easiest way to tell is to pull out your navi unit and take a picture of the back of it.

I can understand the motivation behind this, I'm thinking of doing the same in the future. Looking to upgrade the head unit, add a nicer screen with dvd functionality, but don't want to loose the ability to work the ac. Further, the stock navi is costly to update and there are better portable navi systems.

The AC plugs are the same, however, the swap from non-navi to navi is not just plug and play. The AC is plug and play the navigation system is not and requires a couple of splices to get it to work correctly.

I was wondering about this too. I wish there was an update to the screen. The colors definitely look dated. Even the 2005 update does not change the look.

twinturba - What did you use to get TV on your NAV? How's the picture quality?

A friend of mine made the input module to connect a cheap tv tuner/video switcher box to the navi. The module is protected with a "tupperware" case but works just fine. The picture quality is good, however, the cheap tv tuner doesnt get very good reception so I mostly use it for DVD playback only.
