Default to paint or not to paint that tis the question

Ok, i've been going back and forth about painting my car and i want some opinions about what to do. My car does have a 2 inch dent on the hood right above the headlight and about a 3 inch on the front bumper and i sratched the mirror while backing in the garage one day and i have other scratches that are probally on each and every panel of the car.............Question is should i paint the whole car or fix the dents and paint those panels? now money is an object to me so i have a budget and i would like to purchase a 3pc rmm spoiler and maybe a front lip. what would you suggest if your budget was only 2k per year(the wife says so)i'm so desperate i might buy the parts and go to maaco

If you're going to go ahead with any work get it done right the first time because it might end up costing you more in the end.

paint the whole car..... It might seem like a bit of gwap but just think you can keep this car as long as u want, its a Lexus it will run forever! and with a good paint job and dents removed the value of the car will be increased

Don't goto Maaco. Trust me man. You will ruin that nice factory paintjob even if you have scratches and dents....the Maaco job will make it even worse. I have heard horror stories from that place. There were instances where they just started spraying the car without even cleaning and prepping it!!!

Get a new wife. Better yet, none at all.

I can't imagine having someone dictate how I spend my money!

$2K won't get you very far with a decent paint job. Maaco is a place
used car lots take 1988 Chevys to get repainted for "your job is your credit"
customers. Stay away! Do not paint a Lexus at a production shop!

Paint materials and preparation are key to a decent paint job. Just for
reference, I spent almost $2K on the paint materials alone on my car.
Maaco uses low-grade Nason paint and does a pretty ratty job on prepping
the car for paint; they won't remove headlights, door handles, etc.

It is possible to get a decent paint job out of them- if YOU disassemble
the car (and reassemble it afterwards) and provide them with good quality
paint materials. Back in my early 20s I actually worked for Maaco (in college)
and had Ramiro (the painter) shoot my old Fiat on the weekend- ONLY after I had
prepped and disassembled the car myself and bought good quality PPG paint
down at the local auto body & paint supply store.

You might want to look into having a reputable shop repaint the hood and
whatever affected areas you need done, and then have the entire car
buffed-out. With a limited budget, that's probably the best course of
action.

Also, keep in mind, if you did have a budget shop like Maaco paint it, it will
be extremely difficult to sell the car is you ever decide to 'get out' of it.
Prospective buyers will see a foggy, orange-peeled paint job as a cover-up
for major damage or other issues with the car.

i thank you for the info you provided. As for the problem spots, will they be noticed after a couple of years. also is there certain things i should do or tell the shop to save money at a reputable shop, i've never had a car resprayed before so i am new to this. i have spectra mica blue and i was told today that this paint is more like a candy paint job and would be more expensive to do than other colors do to the blending that will be done, i was quoted 1700 to paint hood/front bumper/mirrors...... i just wanted to say i bought this color car after i saw your car on this site....

FYI if you want a GOOD paint shop.
Do you live near Lakeland?
My Boy John works at a Maaco out there and he does GREAT work.
He has been doing it for 20 years now.
I am taking some parts for him to paint next month.
Work he has done in the past has been top notch.

PM me for his number. He will paint your car RIGHT!
