Navigation software questions - post version 5.1 override and nag screen
So, I have the Gen 3 nav in my 02 GS4 with the original disk and want to upgrade the navigation information. Ok, fine buy the expensive disk and pop it in there. So far, so good.
I was googling to find out what I could about the various updates available. It looks like anything after data version 5.1 takes away the ability to software override the system to enter addresses while moving. I want to keep the ability to do this, but I also want the latest map info. So, that leads to question #1: Can anyone confirm or deny that post 5.1 navi DVDs disable this software override on our cars?
It looks like some people on other (toyota product) forums have found a way to keep that functionality by taking portions of different navigation disks and merging the desirable portions of them on to a dual layer DVD+R. So later map data with a 5.1 loader program. Please understand that I am NOT talking about stealing or pirating ANYTHING. I simply want to know if I can modify the data on a newer disk I intend to purchase in order to maintain the 'software override' ability for a passenger to enter addresses while moving. So, that leads to question #2: Has anybody tried anything like this?
Lastly, if there is a way to get rid of the 'I agree' screen on startup I would really love for someone to tell me what it is. I have searched for way too long and come up with nothing.
What do you guys think?

Actually, if you have a VaisTech unit there is an option to automatically select "I Agree" during each boot sequence.

Thanks so much!
Its a shame you can't merge 5.1 and 7.1 loaders with 7.1 data somehow. I have heard that the 7.1 nag screen goes away after 10sec or so. It would be nice to have that without sacrificing the software override ability.

As far as Gen 2/3, the override can be done on BOTH 6.1 AND 7.1.
The generation that had its over ride features taken away was gen 4, NOT gen 3, the one in your GS.
Personally, I have 6.1 on my GS, and the override works just fine.

I have a 01 GS430. Been seaching around and still had a couple of questions. Any help would be appreciated.
1. Is the Nav generation just dependent on what year your GS is?
2. For the 6.1 you just load the disc and everything works?
3. I live in San Diego/Eastlake and it's a growing community with new housing and streets popping up everyday. I don't want to waste money on this disc if it can't even map my area. Is there a site showing what areas the 6.1 covers?
4. How do you eject the navi disc? I've seen where the car has to be on, went to the back and don't see any ejection button or anything.
Thanks,
Brent

yes the nav gen depends on what year your GS is
for 01 it is Gen 2
02 is Gen 3
so there are corresponding versions of 6.1 or 7.1 for your generation of lexus navigation
the navi disc is in the trunk in the GPS computer underneath the trunk liner on the right side
you take the 2 screws out and tilt the computer upwards to expose the DVD-ROM slot
the rest of the installation instructions can be found on sewell lexus parts website
http://www.lexus-parts.com/nav_install.pdf
make sure you have the correct version of the disc first
for 01 it is Gen 2
02 is Gen 3

Damn, your pretty quick. I went back to edit my post and when I saved it you already responded.
So can you help me out with my question #3?
I know where the DVD-ROM is. Let me get this straight. To eject the DVD, I have to unbolt it from the body, open the slot and tilt it so the DVD would come out?
Appreciate the help.
