So, I was tired of the noise from the Avons I bought the car with and decided to ditch them even with 60% tread left.
I decided to stop by the local bridgestone place to check their prices before I ordered from the tire rack as I always do. I wanted good QUIET all season tires in 235-45-17s. Based on TR reviews, I had it down to the Bridgestone turanza - either the outgoing LS-Z or the incoming Serinty. The former is $205 on 'clearance' at TR and the latter is $211 normal price.
I got my new LS-Zs for $112 a tire locally. If you are in the market for such a tire, I highly recommend you get on down there. These tires are WORLDs better than the old Avons.
I HAVE NO AFFILIATION with Bridgstone, the dealer, TR or anybody/thing else in this thread.

Wow, that's a steal. I run that tire/size in the summer and they are incredibly quiet and comfy. Just curious, was this a corporate Bridgestone dealer or an independently owned shop (if you know)? Also, if you wouldn't mind, could you let us know the date of manufacture for the tires? It's a 4-digit code appearing in an oval on the sidewall. It probably ends in 06 or 07.

Corporate, "CLH2406"
Love them so far. I got got out the door for $56x.xx mounted, balanced, w/tape weights, nitrogen, 40k millage warranty and 9.75% sales tax. Rims were unscratched, tires at the correct pressures, etc. I am floored. This NEVER happens to me.
The last time I bought tires, two months ago for the weekend car, I had a more 'typical' experience. Paid $1100 for the tires from TR, drove to a specialty shop for a $250 m&b and they had to redo it THREE times to get it right (directional, corner specific tires).
I am happy as hell with the tires and service, and the lexus is a whole new car. I can actually HEAR the engine at low speeds now, and a teeny bit of highway noise at 80+. ML sounds great too. NO TIRES. Hallelujah.
