Question Advice on 2002 GS300

Hello All,

I recently purchased a 2002 Black on Black Lexus GS300 with 78,000 miles. The vehicle is in good condition and has a good quality ride. I am thinking of selling this vehicle back to the dealer and purchasing an 03 or 04 GS300 with less than 50,000 miles. This will cost me 3K to 4K. I only plan on keeping any of these vehicles for 2 to 3 years (until I can afford an 06 GS300). I am concerned about going over 100,000 miles on the 02 that I currently own.
Questions for the Group:
1) Should I go for a GS300 with lower miles (will be an increase in the pymt, which I can afford).
2) Keep the current vehicle that I own (02 GS300).

Keep in mind that I will only keep these vehicles for 2 to 3 years.

Recent Pictures of the 02 GS300 that I currently own.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I guess my concern is attempting to trade in a vehicle with over 100,000 miles. I know it's a Lexus, but the resale value will not be good. Am I correct???

LMAO no you shouldn't and there is no need to trade it in for lower miles. These cars are known to hitting 300k miles with absolutely no problems (except for normal wear and tear) or repairs. At 78K miles, the motor is still being broken in, granted that it has been maintanenced. Keep and enjoy your '02 (I have an 02 also), especially since you only plan on keeping it for 2-3 years. Even if you go over 100k miles, you won't have a problem, just make sure it had the 60k mile service done and you get the 90k if you get there. Anyway, welcome and enjoy!

BTW, post some pics of your GS

78k is nothing. Really....it's nothing.

There are plenty of members here with over 120k miles with no mechanical problems at all. There are even older SC/GS300 with over 250k miles.

You know what the difference is between an 02 and and 04 gs300? just what you're going to pay in insurance premiums. Have the required services done (spark plugs (60k), timing belt/waterpump(90k) and you'll be trouble free with the exception of the occasional brake job and fluid change.

If you're not planning on keeping the car very long I don't see why you would pay more money for a newer so you could get more money later on, it's still coming out of your pocket.

I own a '99 GS 400, and it recently broke the 130k mark. No engine troubles what so ever, YET!

I gotta agree with the guys here that makes no sense to me. There aren't any real changes if at all from a 02-04 and the miles are nothing on this car. My brothers gs has 165k no issues runs smooth.

Save the money and use it when you can afford the 06 GS. My GS3 has over 142k on it. runs and looks good.

Thumbs up Sold 02 Lexus GS300 for 08 Accord EX-L

Hello All,

I decided to trade my 02 Lexus GS300 for a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L. I actually like driving the Accord better than the Lexus GS300. I love the quality of the Lexus and the GS is an awesome vehicle.
I am not a GS guy now, maybe in 10 years. I love the 08 Accord EX-L V6!
Take care,

JG
